Wellness Recovery Action Plan – WRAP®
Wellness Recovery Action Plan® or WRAP® is an evidence-based practice used worldwide by people dealing with mental health or general health challenges. Our goal is to attain the highest possible levels of wellness. WRAP® was developed by Dr. Mary Ellen Copeland, PhD and focuses on self empowerment for wellness and wholeness rather than illness and sickness.
In 2010, WRAP® was recognized by the United States Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an evidence-based practice and listed in the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. Researchers from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) released the results of a rigorous study that demonstrated significantly positive behavioral health outcomes for individuals with severe and persistent mental health challenges who participated in peer-led WRAP® groups. Research studies on WRAP® from UIC cited that positive outcomes were tied to the fidelity of the WRAP® facilitation model designed by Mary Ellen Copeland and developed by the Copeland Center.
PEERS provides quality WRAP® orientations, workshops, and training. Since our inception in 2001, we have dedicated ourselves to offering WRAP® in a variety of formats and agendas. We use as a guideline adherence to its core set of Values and Ethics.

*COVID-19 Notes For WRAP® to be an evidence-based practice it must be done in person to effectively model the Values and Ethics. Because of current COVID-19 requirements weekly virtual groups do not count as a prerequisite for the Seminar II. PEERS is not currently holding any in-person workshops/training. We will resume in-person activities when it is deemed safe for the health of staff and our community participants.
