Programs /TAY Initiative

Congratulate, motivate, appreciate. The Transition Age Youth Initiative is a new youth movement in partnership with Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services TAY System of Care, Pool of Consumer Champions TAY, and PEERS.

The members of TAYi are vital components in the delivery and development of mental health services in Alameda County. We support one another while promoting leadership and empowerment through community education and involvement. We use our skills and abilities to end stigma and improve the lives of TAY.

TAY range in ages from 16-24 and self-identify as having experience within mental health care, foster care, and/or justice systems. We are diverse in race, ethnicity, spirituality, and learn from one another's experiences. Through TAYi, members build leadership skills, receive education and training, give community input, create systems change, end stigma, develop a youth voice, and facilitate and host conferences.

If you're interested in getting involved with TAYi and the youth community, please email tayi@peersnet.org or call (510) 832-7337.
