Action Alerts /Ebony Magazine covers drastic cuts to mental health services in prisons and the nation
Ebony magazine has been keeping the African American community up on what’s hot and what’s important since 1945. In their June 2011 issue, the legendary publication featured an article titled "Pushing Back Against Mental Health Cuts." Journalist Kevin Chappell reported on the deep slashes to mental health funding in prisons and various states around the country.
One goal of PEERS in working on the Alameda County Social Inclusion Campaign is to reduce mental health stigmas in the African American community and encourage those who need treatment to get it. We were pleased to see Ebony magazine informing their readers and the African American community about mental health service budget crisis.
